Wordworks

Ian Parsons, Head Chef at Matogen Digital
We've been working away on scoping out and putting timelines to our work in developing Wordworks' new home on the web. Our progress:
  • Scoping and costing: just about complete
  • Timelines: work in progress
  • Site map: First internal review tomorrow morning
What to expect:
  • The scoping document will break down the project into distinct phases, with a chunk of work included in the first phase that will apply to all of the websites in the multisite network. These phases can serve as big milestones for the project, but we may want to define interim milestones as well.
  • The timeline will be detailed for the first phase, and become less descriptive from phase 2 onwards.

Jane Coombe, Strategic & Programme Consultant at Wordworks Jane Rowen Ravera-Bauer, Technical advisor at Wordworks Rowen – I'd like to propose that we take a similar approach to scoping and costing the CRM component. We have a lot of information to work with already, but I'd like to map out our understanding of requirements before we provide a cost estimate for the project. Let me know if that makes sense to you, and I'll give you a mini-proposal for our work on this initial phase of the CRM.

Hi Ian Parsons, Head Chef at Matogen Digital Ian
Great to get this information on your work to date.  Would be great to get sight of the scoping/ costing drafts as soon as you feel ok to share.  I like the idea of the phases as big milestones (assume these are named/ described in the scoping doc) and agree smaller milestones will be good for each of them.  Clever to plan a first phase that progresses all the sites, and glad it will be closely time-lined - this will link to smaller milestones I assume.  I can see why the detail is less for future phases but hope it will be enough to give us an overall sense of timing to inform other planning.   It seems you are creating a parallel plan for the CRM which makes complete sense, and again, would like to understand how its timing maps to the multisite plan.   I agree that the sooner we see the CRM mini plan the better to align understandings of the requirements. Have you and Rowen Ravera-Bauer, Technical advisor at Wordworks Rowen managed to have the promised technical chat?  Warm thanks to Matogen and Unfold for all the work so far.  I keep imagining how it feels over on your side right now as the days count down to the 20th. Best, Jane

Hi Jane,

I'm meeting with Thabisile and her team next week - I imagine a follow-up CRM meeting needs to be scheduled now that we have settled on Salesforce to decide what we take across from the existing system and any minor improvements needed. We also need to map the data for donors, considering that this doesn't yet exist.

I've not yet managed to touch base with Ian, but will do so before end of this week ( Ian Parsons, Head Chef at Matogen Digital Ian I'll whatsapp you?)

Kind regards,
Rowen
