Hello
Ian Parsons Ian
, the team sent us a folder of the assets, so may we please ask them to send the converted images of the whole Assets_illustrations folder.

heads up peeps

Robyn
I have let Jane know that we will make this work they want they want - moving on.com :)
Robyn
That's fine, I think they wanted a visual of what was possible so if we are sure we can solve the quiz in a way that does not need them to rethink their content , we can move on
Ian P.
What do you need from me re the quiz? Our options are either to work with the current functionality in Learndash, or build additional functionality to allow for embedding quizzes in the middle of a topic. We can't build that now, though.
Robyn
Ian Parsons Ian
I did give you a task already but looks like Jane's waiting on the quiz to move forward here - please let me know?   We are waiting for two things before we can sign off from our side on prototype. 1.  Ian and Xoliswa were working on the issue of the quiz embed (without that we can't sign off on the lesson design capabilities in LearnDash.).  Otherwise we think that we can build courses without design features beyond those we already have in the main site/ hub. 2.  The course landing pages are with Roule but we haven't seen that yet.

please will you give some thought to the next meeting we need to have with Wordworks, we said we'd get through Salesforce and schedule a follow up for events and dashboard - let me know what you think for that - I can aim for next week or the week after - our schedule is still in tract despite the delays so far, it is however, right on the cusp.  I am getting a proper update from Unfold on Monday but they are actively working on the LMS Prototype - theoretically that deadline is today.  Re testing I want to manage expectations there and close the loop with them on all the loose ends so prepping for that now but will likely send on Monday - Thank you

I removed the Gutenberg blocks that was displaying the list of lessons. Separate issue from course content not displaying.
Robyn
Ian Parsons Ian
for my learning here - did you remove the Gutenberg blocks as well as we had an issue with the code?
Xoliswa S.
The issue is in my custom code for the linking for the content sharing, Im taking a look but I was looking in my local. I have disabled the custom code plugin on staging and I see the course content.

can I let WW know the issue is resolved
Ian P.
Let me do it quickly.
Ian P.
I added them using a Gutenberg block, not code. They should just be removed
Robyn
Cool
Ian Parsons Ian
so even though they are not visible in the course builder (first two screenshots) you coded them in there? If not, that's what I am flagging here - none of those lessons are sitting on this course but they are on the preview for the course
Ian P.
Robyn Robyn
this is what I mentioned on our call. I added that list of lessons last week in an attempt to get the course content to display, but it should be removed, because it's a list of all lessons on the platform.

I have let the WW peeps know that they can add an activity in between lessons, etc - please let me know when the bug is resolved, I had a quick look now and it looks like all the lessons are jumbled together on Jacqui's test. Its not just showing the lessons she included on the preview. Not sure if you realised that this morning - please let me know what you think when you have a moment.
Robyn
Got you, Tks X
Xoliswa S.
I'm looking into the bug
Robyn Robyn
, its the course content not pulling through on the course page.
Robyn
Xoliswa Shandu Xoliswa
Ian Parsons Ian
I am not sure what bug you spotted but I had a quick play around to see what's going on with the builder - you cannot see the outcome of the course - is that the bug ? I have reached out to support to ask what our options are for activities / quizzes post lesson to test knowledge with a certificate achieving quiz / final test at the end of the course.  I also asked what quiz options and types exist so will see what they say - the backend is very slow but know we'll look at this as part of the bigger picture x
Robyn
Xoliswa Shandu Xoliswa
I see why you are anxious about the LMS -
Ian Parsons Ian
we'll need an answer for this Open Channel - Wordworks  for Wordworks quite soon as it will affect how we move forward - I dont have a good handle on the options available but feels like the team should consider changing how they structure the course vs trying to force it to work the way their old stuff did before - it would be cheaper and longer lasting to rethink the structure in my opinion. I asked Gemini what options exist here but not sure if we want to share it without validating "
ou're right, LearnDash doesn't natively support embedding quizzes within a topic like you could with Moodle and H5P. LearnDash primarily associates quizzes with the end of a lesson (topic in Moodle terms) or as a standalone course element. This is a common frustration for those migrating from more flexible LMS platforms.

However, there are a few workarounds you can consider to achieve a similar interactive learning experience in LearnDash:

1. "Quiz as a Lesson" Approach:

  • Break down your topics:
Instead of long topics with interspersed quizzes, divide them into smaller, more focused lessons.

  • Create quizzes for each segment:
For each segment of your old topic (that had a quiz), create a short quiz.

  • Sequence the lessons:
Arrange these mini-lessons and quizzes in the desired order within your LearnDash course. This mimics the interspersed quiz flow.

  • Pros:
Cleanest approach within LearnDash's structure. Good for tracking progress on each segment.

  • Cons:
Can lead to a lot more lessons, potentially making the course navigation feel more complex. Requires restructuring your content.

2. Using LearnDash's "Lesson Materials" and External Quiz Tools:

  • Create your quizzes externally:
Similar to your H5P approach in Moodle, use a tool like H5P (still compatible with many WordPress setups), or other quiz plugins like Quiz Maker, Interact, or Typeform. These tools often offer embed codes.

  • Embed in Lesson Materials:
Within your LearnDash lessons, use the "Lesson Materials" section (or the main content area with an embed code) to insert your externally created interactive quizzes. You can place these anywhere within the lesson content.

  • Pros:
Closest to your Moodle workflow. Allows for rich, interactive quizzes. Can be less disruptive to your existing content structure if you just add quizzes within existing lessons.

  • Cons:
Progress tracking might be less integrated with LearnDash. You'll likely rely on the external quiz tool's reporting. Requires an additional plugin (H5P or similar).

3. LearnDash Shortcodes (Advanced):

  • If your external quiz plugin provides shortcodes:
Some quiz plugins offer shortcodes to embed quizzes. You can try placing these shortcodes directly within your LearnDash lesson content.

  • LearnDash's own shortcodes:
LearnDash itself has shortcodes for displaying various elements. While not directly for embedding quizzes mid-lesson, you might explore if there are ways to use them in conjunction with your quiz plugin's shortcodes.

  • Pros:
    Potentially the most flexible option.

  • Cons:
Requires more technical know-how. Compatibility issues may arise between plugins. Might require custom coding or theme adjustments.

4. Consider LearnDash Add-ons:

  • Explore LearnDash extensions:
There might be third-party plugins or extensions for LearnDash that enhance quiz functionality and allow for embedding. Search the LearnDash marketplace or community forums for relevant add-ons.

  • Pros:
Could provide a more streamlined solution.

  • Cons:
Cost of the add-on. Compatibility and maintenance considerations.

Recommendation:

The "Quiz as a Lesson" approach is the most straightforward and generally recommended way to mimic the interspersed quiz flow within LearnDash's limitations. While it involves restructuring, it keeps everything within LearnDash's native functionality and ensures proper progress tracking. If you absolutely need the richness of H5P or another specific interactive quiz format, then the "Lesson Materials" approach (option 2) is your next best bet, but be prepared for potentially less integrated progress tracking.

Before making a major change, it's always a good idea to test these options on a staging or development site to see which one best fits your needs and content structure. Also, check the LearnDash support forums or contact their support directly. They might have additional suggestions or be aware of upcoming features that address this."

Yes, I believe we will be done on the 24th of Feb

on the budget front, manually calculated off Monday's update - the admin tool does not give you up to date information - it runs to the 26th for some reason - actuals as at the 27th of January 69% for Global and 74% for Main site - I will check again on Monday - totals include testing and internal reverts as well as reverts from the client

Can I assume we will be ready by the 24th ?

I am doing that, which is why I said I need to do some maths - I dont have a clear view so need to go work out where we are at

Please refer to the spend in the accounting system; Clockify is not accurate

I will assume that we will have everything ready for testing by the 24th?

You are right, thanks Ian, I forgot I had it as seperate line -we can go till the 24th of February - I do want to flag that we will be out of budget if we continue working at the pace we are now up till then - I am trying to do the maths to work out how much budget we actually have left, we are over budget in clockify

Heya
Robyn Robyn
  and
Ian Parsons Ian
, I may be losing my marbles a little bit, please help me with something please. The Donations, which one is the donations page on the site that has the donation form? The Donate we currently have is displaying the flexible content template. Please let me know if you have an idea, I'm worried I may have missed it but I went through all the designs and I never listed a donations page except for the Donors and partners and the the donate button that displays flexile content.
Ian P.
Sounds good!

Hi
Ian Parsons Ian
,

These are all the views and I have added our names. Perhaps you may check them out and then we can discuss and align on the approach? May I set a meet up for 3pm?

Ian P.
Great stuff! Would you create an account for me on the site as well?
Xoliswa S.
Hey
Ian Parsons Ian
, I have created the components page, I will keep adding the components. The navbar is not displayed because I did not push my acf but I'll update that when I push the other components as well.
Robyn
Robyn
Notes from our chat on Friday
  • Share the list of 22 components  - what they are so the team can see how to streamline
  • Site search -  probably going to park
  • News, Project, Insights, simplified (one post type)
  • Some Infographics build as components  with basic look and feel that fits into "the grid" and some with images (about us example)
  • Shopping list for peeps to select what they go ahead with (Salesforce and components)
Ian P.
Thanks! My feedback:
  • I think Our team should be built using flexible content. This will give the Wordworks team more control over who goes where. Might take a bit more time initially to load content, but will be more flexible for them.
  • Donors and partners - yup, this should be a template.
  • Annual reports – we can do this with content blocks as well.
  • Join our team - also content blocks
Xoliswa S.
Hi
Ian Parsons Ian
, may I ask you to take a look at these, from your list I had the same but I also had these as well, please let me know if you these were the kind you mentioned, I did keep in mind that some of these we will want to have them dynamically loaded as new team members or partners are added.

I have added my questions and notes to the prototype - I am unsure about a couple of links that seem like they need to go somewhere but don't ; also asked about searching (list vs generic ) and what's happening on the donate page (there's no copy for this yet and some of the elements refer to a team section so want to understand what is happening on this page) Either way, the content needs to be fleshed out as I think this fits into the current phase of work- have asked questions but going to hold off on queueing in the content - Donate page for reference https://xd.adobe.com/view/5d8ec556-3c59-4489-8f7c-4d211eec147f-08dd/screen/18ec766c-630b-41cb-9203-f476f415cb13/

I am working through the prototype and thinking about our contact form - usually we make the email field required but because we don't know if they will use an email or phone number, one of those two need to be compulsory - its not a common way to submit a form so want to note it somewhere that if someone tries to submit without any of these, it must not go through but if one of the fields is completed it goes ahead.
