Couple of screenshots mock up to make sure we understand what Phil is asking

With the extension of the current contract to the end of May, Phil was hoping there would be time/funds to cover the change to the blog webpages, where only page 1 has the feature image, and page 2 is just a listing of past blog posts.

Hey Robyn, Project Manager at Matogen Digital Robyn , I found these blog requests we had in the pipeline on Asana, should these also be considered? I know the comment was only regarding the featured post and pagination, and I think the best solution is what is suggested in point 5, below.

___

  1. Dropdowns: Decrease the font size of the dropdown options so terms like "Research and development" fit. Ensure this works for all filter dropdowns.
  2. We need a clear filter button: Add a page heading between the filter and the articles:
    1. No filter fields applied: "All News"
    2. Any filter field applied: "Results for 'sensing' and Environment"
  3. Some tags show no result: The filters show the whole list of tags but some still need to be put in use, would it be possible to show only the tags in use? GEMS might want the tags visible regardless... a question to ask them. eg. GEMS Labs has no results, etc.
  4. Rename "GEMS News" to "GEMS Blog"
  5. Remove pagination on the blog and replace it with a "Load More" button: show 10 posts initially and load 10 more at a time.
  6. Add a year filter (next year – 2024)
  7. Revise the design of the featured post
  8. The header image in posts is to be set in 2 columns:
    1. The wide image is too problematic. This needs to move to a 2 col layout with the image on the left and post title and tags on the right
    2. Revise image guidelines

ps if there's anything relevant that speaks to the new brief, it can be considered but not sure if that's the case -maybe your point 5, but we want to keep this very light to see what Phil wants, its likely to mushroom anyhow so lets start small

Robyn, Project Manager at Matogen Digital Robyn  – I'm pushing for the solution we suggested in point 5 to keep it light. But want to confirm I'm right (checking with David - he's out on lunch at the mo).

In the meantime, I've done the mockup. 2 flows for either option.

No probs Laura Hurley, Designer, UX and Engagement Specialist at Matogen Digital Laura I certainly was not sure and neither was Ian - I think we should share what we think is best and what is consistent with the rest of the site's behaviour. I had a quick look and it seems like this is the first time we have introduced a load more or pagination (?) If so, share both and give them the choice to pick but mention which is going to be quicker (assuming its a material difference)

Hope that helps - I know its a super vague brief hence the quick prototype;  last year's chats will be long forgotten so some of those enhancements may still make their way through but best to restart and see what Phil and co throw our way.

Laura Hurley, Designer, UX and Engagement Specialist at Matogen Digital Laura thanks! I had a quick look at replacing pagination with a More button. I think we could figure it out, but I'd say let's leave that off the mockup for now. I'd rather surprise them with the added bonus if we get to it. Sound good?

I think the layout is exactly what Phil has in mind.

Super! That makes sense! Yes it is the only instance of pagination on the site, so far. Let me chat with David Mundell, Developer at Matogen Digital David  when he's back and get his take on whether the efforts will be vastly different and then we can gooi there way to make a choice! Thanks for reeling me in 😉 haha!
Ian Parsons, Head Chef at Matogen Digital
Laura Hurley, Designer, UX and Engagement Specialist at Matogen Digital Laura  we've already got pagination active on the news section, so I'm suggesting we leave it off the prototype and if there's time, we just do it.

Ian Parsons, Head Chef at Matogen Digital Ian - The prototype is different from the live site. Currently, the website displays a featured post on every page. The request is to remove the featured post from page 2 onwards, meaning only the first page would have it - which is what is shown on the prototype and requested in this task :)

Oh wait, sorry I think I'm confused...
Ian Parsons, Head Chef at Matogen Digital
I'm specifically talking about the "More" button - that's the bit that I think we should hold back.
