Hi Robyn, Lau,

One of our biggest and longest standing customers is celebrating 75th anniversary as per below.

I thought it might be an idea to post a ‘congratulations’ post?

  | Dear Valued Client,

It is with great pleasure that I write to inform you that we are celebrating our 75th anniversary this year. From our beginnings on 6 July 1949 as a Building Society mainly focusing on mortgage loans and deposit accounts, CABS has grown and evolved, solidifying its position as a leading financial institution in Zimbabwe.  The issuance of the Authorised Dealership licence by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe in 2011, allowed us to expand our range of products and services to cater for the full suite of financial needs for corporates and individuals. Throughout this journey, our commitment to providing exceptional financial solutions to you, our valued customer has remained unwavering.

Throughout the years, we have played a pivotal role in banking individuals at various life stages, from children to pensioners, and catering for small to medium enterprises, development organisations, schools, churches, and large corporates. Our services include individual and business transactional accounts, savings accounts, short-term and long-term business loans, home loans, salary-based loans, digital banking platforms, local and international cards, Point of Sale Machines for our merchants, investments as well as insurance products underwritten by Old Mutual.

In support of international trade, we facilitate incoming and outgoing international payments through our wide network of correspondent banks covering six currencies namely USD, ZAR, GBP, EUR, CNY, and BWP.

We are proud to fuel our economy by financing key growth sectors supported by credit lines from Afreximbank, Trade and Development Bank, European Investment Bank and African Development Bank. In agriculture, we have supported tobacco, sugarcane, horticulture, and grain production, among others. Our significant investments in mining, energy, tourism, manufacturing, retail, and distribution continue to drive national development.

CABS has a rich history in mortgage lending, empowering families across Zimbabwe. We have built 2,797 low-income houses in Budiriro, Harare, and developed 1,030 stands in Nkulumane and Pumula South, Bulawayo. We have been instrumental in the development or funding of mortgages in areas like Tynwald, Mabvuku, Tafara, Hatcliffe and Westgate in Harare among others. Not only have we provided our customers with housing loans, but salary-based loans to bridge their financial gaps through EezyCredit and Flexicredit Loans, both accessible on *227#.

On behalf of the entire CABS family, I express our deepest gratitude to you for your unwavering support, trust, and loyalty throughout the years.  Together, let us embark on this celebratory journey, as we honour our legacy, embrace the possibilities of tomorrow, and continue to serve you with excellence.

Kind Regards,

Mehluli Mpofu
