Hey Xoliswa Shandu, Matogen Digital Xoliswa  I'm not seeing them in the organiser dropdown... I tried clearing the cache, though am struggling to do that

It's weird! If I filter the calendar I see the new organisers. If I click on events in the navigation and then click on the dropdown, they are not there

No problem Laura Hurley, Designer, UX and Engagement Specialist at Matogen Digital Laura , I will check what may the issue.

Hey Laura Hurley, Designer, UX and Engagement Specialist at Matogen Digital Laura , I cleared the cache in admin but was unable to get the updates to show in incognito unless I do the cache bust manually. Please review when you get gap and let me know if you can see them.

Is Drupal cache always misbehaving or is there a way to add new items that helps to mitigate the cache issue?

Same, it's still not showing up and the Partners link you added to the navigation is also sometimes there and sometimes not.

Cache has been a persisting issue where we've needed to add cache-busting extensions on the URLs. David Mundell, Developer at Matogen Digital David could you chime in here and let us know how you've worked around this on DSI?

Also to note (not sure if this is a fix you did on both dev and prod David Mundell, Developer at Matogen Digital David ), but the latest news layout is still odd on home if you don't add cache busters (dev and prod)...

Hey Laura Hurley, Designer, UX and Engagement Specialist at Matogen Digital Laura and Xoliswa Shandu, Matogen Digital Xoliswa

I am seeing it when I cleared cache by adding random letters to the url for example:
https://dsi.dev.umn.edu/events?hbfhjkdhbfkj

Cache can be an issue on the UMN sites. Sometimes if your not "signed in" then it takes a while to clear but usually adding a query string to the URL fixes the issue. It is also showing for me on incognito

I assume we are talking about DEV https://dsi.dev.umn.edu/

Thanks David Mundell, Developer at Matogen Digital David - so if I add the cache-busting URL (?hjdhvh etc.) should it not clear the cache for the current session and subsequent visit to the site? It does not seem to clear it completely cuz when I return everything is still cached. Sorry, it's a tough one for me to wrap my head around... 🫣😂

And yes, we're talking dev :) re events

The fixes you implemented yesterday on the latest news widget are also still not visible unless you add a cache buster every time (for both dev and prod)
David Mundell, Developer at Matogen Digital
Hey Laura Hurley, Designer, UX and Engagement Specialist at Matogen Digital Laura , I agree it is confusing because if you clear it while signed in it should show the changes there after. Why it doesn't I have no idea. Alternatively you can clear your browser history but that also might not work and can be a pain to do. Usually trying incognito has the same effect. It seems like the cache buster "?jhdfsjkldhf" is our last resort if we are not seeing the changes. Its either how they setup Drupal or the servers they are using has some sort of caching that would be my best bet 😢😓😕

Thanks David Mundell, Developer at Matogen Digital David  - it is such a mission... My concern is that the client and returning visitors see these buggies that we've squashed..
David Mundell, Developer at Matogen Digital
Yes I am also not sure about that at times. However on production we have one more card to play. We can clear the varnish cache. The varnish stores our site in memory, this allow it to run faster for lots of people that visit the site. The issue is that the site is cached. We have access to clear that cache for the production sites with this button in Drupal site management
If this doesn't work its back to the trusty ?sgbdhkjbdksjbdk and hope for the best or contact UMN Drupal team for support
