This is definitely still needed. When they build out the new site, they will create new pages that did not exist before and possibly rename sections to fit in with the new design. As a result, some of the URLs might change. The list of redirects should be applied to the new site to ensure that website visitors who click on some of the old links still find their way to the right content. 

Might be sensible to engage with Anup on the best approach.
