✨ Feedback on first round of client testing
All of these tasks are straightforward to implement:
- the top banner doesn't go to umn main page unless you hold down your finger and select new tab.
- desktop chrome and safari on a mac: services and resources drop down tabs on the main page highlight everything under header wherever you mouse over, research drop down tab without headers highlights when you mouse over the page.
- Clicking on the tags on the stories (the grey ones with the white text) changes the color of the text when you return to the page, showing that you have already clicked on that tag. The color of the text on the tag changes from white to darker grey, which makes it harder to read. If there was a way to change the lettering to some other color when it has already been clicked, maybe that would be better?
- cursor incorrectly set to text mode on System status hover between the text and the icon
- Top buttons hover state area does not match clickable and cursor: pointer area (only matches text)
- Images are draggable
- cursor incorrectly set to text mode on System status hover between the social media icons
- cursor incorrectly set to pointer in unclickable area (titles) in dropdown menus
- Service Catalog, Software, Tutorials, Research Spotlights pages not highlighting in the navigation bar links
Feedback or more info needed on other tasks:
- headers in services and resource tab don't link to anything but are links. It's possible there is a different way of setting up these section headings, but it seemed that the standard approach with this menu builder is to add section headings as empty links. I'll take another look.
- iphone chrome: the main page is a massive image of "Content Filter" site search. all the images are so big you don't know there is text below them to scroll to. It sounds like the user ended on the 404 page. The page isn't clearly labelled, so I can understand the confusion. I'll add a heading on that page to clarify.
- the menu tab and subsequent menus do not mirror the main umn site which has better functionality. * mobile vs desktop - anything we can do to make it better There is some other feedback on menu functionality regarding hover states. I'll address that, but let me know if you see other ways for us to improve menu functionality.
- Top header image cut off below & Hero text is hard to read & Most hero images are too small to fill the area and get pixelated and blurry. Please clarify on which pages this is happening; it's most likely something we can fix by replacing the image. If text is hard to read because it's too small on mobile devices, please let me know and I'll increase the size a bit.
- Most containers are broken, spawning multiple scrollbars (tested on a 2K monitor) We're not seeing this; please specify browser and OS to help us troubleshoot.
- No existing user account matches the SAML ID provided. This authentication service is not configured to create new accounts."" error on login". This is expected behaviour; let us know if we should add additional users for testing purposes.
- Is it possible to have an alphabetic filter here? For example, if I click on "B" I see all software that begins with the letter B? This is a really nice suggestion. I'll look into ways to solve this, but suggest we tackle it in the next round of development.
