I have made some updates to the calendars. The page reload loop has stopped. It is still not working 100% like my local environment but is in a much better state.

| Robyn |
I have created a task for this one - I am exhausted, I have emailed the client with where we are at. Services page is a primary convo for next week - I am not nearly done with sprint planning yet but will get myself organised this weekend / early on Tuesday -

The news link is the menu is not working - I think its another gap too
| Robyn |
I am also seeing that the images are broken on experts that were not broken before - we should have tested everything after your push ? Or do you think this is something else now?

| Robyn | ||

I think I got confused with the section on the home page MSI services

Update: I am not seeing the reload loop on local. I pushed some debug information that will hopefully load in the next 10 minutes
| David M. |
Yes its infinite loop. I am going though the code on my local to see why its not doing that
| Robyn |
right, thought I hit a wobble haha - thanks guys
| Ian P. |
Yup, the page is reloading in an infinite loop.
| David M. |
I dont think its your code
| David M. |
I am seeing the console logs but my fix does contain a few page reloads. I have a feeling its something to do with my code. Its works on my local but I go latest from DEV.
| David M. |
I have since deployed again to see if a delay will fix the issue

I am now going to investigate what is happening with the App Script. if the forms have it or if we should be adding it. COMSOL calendar is populated
| David M. | ||
| David M. |
I have added the forms onto DEV. I think we still have a permissions issue: https://msi.dev.umn.edu/software-calendars-and-purchase-requests however the embedded code is showing
| David M. |
I think it was a cache issue. Every time I saved it would break. Eventually the whole site broke on local. I used "ddev drush cr" and I haven't had an issue since. I also reinstalled my module and now its working properly on local and DEV.
| Ian P. |
You can disable it on Local
| Ian P. |
This module contains a script to migrate paragraph content from intro_and_image fields to introduction_paragraph fields.

Can you describe what happened?

Great, keep me posted Dave !

| David M. |
this one

| David M. |
Update on MSI Calendar. I see after yesterdays update it has removed my data from the module. I am also not seeing the module in the navigation. I got it working on local. I needed to reinstall it. I took the time to remove the weight section since I added the drag and drop functionality. After DEV has taken its time to deploy I will reinstall the plugin and populate the calendars. Then try the embedded code with the forms. I have added all the forms to my Matogen calendar in order to create the combined forms.

According to the design the text on the page is asking the user to pick from the dropdown
| David M. |
How I imagined the calendar working in my prep was for it to default to the first option in the dropdown list.

Yes that makes sense for the page to link to the software calendar page. I don't know if it makes sense for the dropdown to default to "Comsol" specifically, but it will probably default to the first option in the dropdown list

I need to request content for this little section and then when you click on the link it takes you to the software overview page that is defaulted to the first one comsol and the user will then navigate to what they want https://xd.adobe.com/view/6203a662-6367-493c-88c0-3090751c3d1e-3750/screen/6ae796b2-79bc-4f7d-8944-4ee0a9d3051e/

| David M. |
which is there now
| David M. |
Yes the ones that she added was Knowledge based links
| Robyn |
so we know? or am I missing something]
| Robyn |
she gave us this 'Im trying to add the following three links to the landing page as links, but none of them are showing up when I try and enter them in the "landing page links" section. (The 'bioref' one does, but it's an old version of the page we don't want to use). |
| Ian P. |
| David M. |
I would also need to test each one to make sure it works correctly
| David M. |
Yes I am not sure what they generally use these landing pages for however I would assume using: The new knowledge base, Research and Software could be good additions
| Robyn |
ok, so we still need the content types? If so what do you suggest for this part?
| David M. |
Every time I tried to add the links the page broke
| David M. |
No this was an issue that was breaking the page when I added the links Sarah provided
| Robyn |
so the bug was the issue and we don't need to consider these content types?
| David M. |
When adding the new articles it would break the page every time
| David M. |
I found a bug. When there is no content in "intro and image" inside the linked articles then the page is temporally unavailable. once I added random content that fixed the issue
| Robyn |
Thanks
| Ian P. |
The purpose of these fields is to structure a whole bunch of links on a page. We use some content types to structure other pages, and they are not used on their own, e.g. Experts. Others are unlikely to be needed, e.g. User bulletins.
| Robyn |
| Ian P. |
We should decide which additional content types we should make available in those fields. Is this making sense? |
| Robyn |
| David M. |
Great lets chat in the meeting
| Ian P. |
| Ian P. | ||
| Ian P. |
The issue is that not all content types are currently available in those links sections
| Robyn |
Hi Ian and Robyn, Quick question that you might know the answer to. The other day I made a new landing page and published it: https://msi.umn.edu/our-resources/knowledge-base/bioinformatics-guides
I'm trying to add the following three links to the landing page as links, but none of them are showing up when I try and enter them in the "landing page links" section. (The 'bioref' one does, but it's an old version of the page we don't want to use). Do you know why they wouldn't be showing up in that lookup? They are all published content pages. Thanks, Sarah I am not seeing flags in the backend like with GEMS so can you take look at this issue and let me know what you find - I am not sure about look ups so have not tried to do more than check the page where I see nothing - Thank you |
| Robyn |
Thanks so much
| Ian P. |
I looked a bit deeper

| Robyn |
no probs at all, I am including you so you will see how I am doing it. xx its about the change we made to make it clear vs we are not sure x

| Laura H. |
Hey
| Robyn |
| Robyn |
Clickable tag pills for news/events. - reading this literally - I am happy to move on but want to be sure so think we can approach it by showing them the update we made to tags to define what is clickable vs not - they should tell us if thats incorrect - let me know if you are happy with this and we can try it this way around
| Ian P. |
In general, I think it's always better to clarify with the client than not

| Ian P. |
I think we can do a cost estimate and then share it with them Robyn

Add-on services Much of the functionality on the website is to provide access to stakeholders and facilitate usage of MSI’s services. These currently exist as modules added to the site. As part of a Phase 2 project, we intend to develop standalone web apps for these functions, including: the Principal Investigator dashboard, creation of research groups, and temporary class accounts. We will need to decide how to manage these components once the new website is live, and while Phase 2 is in development. The project scope below may not be a complete picture, as the site is quite big. We would like to do an in-depth audit of all of the site content and functionality, and we will work with the MSI team to prioritise these for the new site.

| Robyn |
Right peeps, happy to check more tomorrow but all looks great to me !
| Robyn |
i also checked out the main pages and menu items
| Robyn |
| Robyn |
all the forms work like a dream
| Ian P. |
We have liftoff! https://msi.umn.edu/
| Laura H. |
Ahh, dang! Hope they can get it sorted out soon!
| Robyn |
📢 just when we think its happening haha
| Ian P. |
Update: The Drupal team is having some trouble changing the DNS records, so they can't launch the site. They've escalated it to someone else - will report back if I hear anything
| Ian P. |
So that means Ben is working on it :)
| Ian P. |
Good sign - msi.prd.umn.edu redirects to msi.umn.edu
| Ian P. |
Yup! I think it will take some time - I'll keep looking and ping you if I see something
| Robyn |
i keep looking to see if its up yet but guessing we will get an email!
| Ian P. |
Same here! super exciting
| Robyn |
let me put my comments in a more appropriate channel haha cannot believe the day has come
| Robyn |
Righteo, all the links that were flagged for me to check are done - we are ready people!
| Robyn |
Thanks so much
| Ian P. | ||
| Ian P. |
let's chat quickly?
| Ian P. |
These are the 6 wildcard redirects:
- /news/* - /event/* - /research/* - /sw/* - /bulletin/* - /tutorials/* |
| Robyn |
that one redirected to the new site link
| Robyn | ||
| Robyn |
hang on let me try again
| Robyn |
why is this working then? https://msi.dev.umn.edu/msi-research/msi-research-spotlights/pipeline-functionally-annotating-pangenomes
| Ian P. |
Any individual redirect that matches one of the wildcard patterns will not work. They won't break the site anymore, but they will go to the wildcard redirect and show a 404 page
| Robyn |
they are working so you may ignore my message!
| Robyn |
| Ian P. |
I'm going to let the MSI and Drupal teams know we're ready to launch.
| Laura H. |
Ok cool! no probs, we can look anytime. Shout 🤩 Just gonna get some lunch in now
| Ian P. |
Did you see my note about the conflicts between the wildcard and individual redirects? I think we can find a workaround for these, but I think we can tackle that tomorrow.
| Ian P. |
That sounds good
| Laura H. |
It a pleasure! :D There were one or two that already had redirects, so content from different places going to the same link on the new site, and a few new pages.. :)
| Ian P. |
Big appreciation, dankie Laura.
| Laura H. |
| Ian P. |
| Ian P. |
Alrighty, I've fixed the bug, but we still have a conflict between the wildcard redirects and some of the individual ones that you added,
| Robyn |
so happy its not another mistake on my side 😊
| Ian P. |
I'm looking for a fix now.
| Ian P. |
| Ian P. |
Let me check
| Robyn |
getting this for most of my checks including Lau's simple ones so dont think its me
| Robyn | ||
| Robyn |
Hey Ian, have you done the redirects for research - struggling with those as well - sorry! getting a site error - unexpected error vibes
| Robyn |
Got it, thanks so much
| Ian P. |
Only the wildcard redirects will work with a variety of URLs with the same patterns. The one-to-one redirects are the ones that Laura are adding. If they are checked in her column, they should work, but they will only apply to that single redirect. They are similar but not related to the wildcard ones. \ |
| Robyn |
and now it works haha
| Robyn |
and see it that way on the site for bulletin too - sorry about the brain farts!
| Robyn |
ignore, i see when you click through it says event so we are good
| Robyn |
also, just to note that events on the doc is with an 's' so is that okay? Its events on the production site too https://www.msi.umn.edu/events
| Robyn |
is what is on the doc for user bulletins
| Robyn | ||
| Robyn |
okay great, that's what it is on the doc hence I went with that - still good?
| Ian P. |
I'm redirecting /bulletin/ to /our-resources/users-bulletin/ . It looks like you're trying to redirect from /content/users-bulletin/
| Robyn |
and this is the post currently on dev https://msi.dev.umn.edu/our-resources/users-bulletin/msi-users-bulletin-march-2024
| Robyn |
So the user bulletin individual posts are also wild cards? if so do they work the same as I am not getting them up - probably something silly on my side this is what i put in msi.dev.umn.edu/content/users-bulletin/msi-users-bulletin-march-2024
| Ian P. |
| Ian P. |
Dankie Robs!
| Robyn |
events and news wildcards are perfect thanks Ian
| Ian P. |
Lekker :)
| Robyn |
thank you
| Robyn |
now it works! haha
| Ian P. |
The https:// part is fine, by the way - it's just the www. that causes the issue
| Ian P. |
| Robyn | ||
| Ian P. |
Ok - what's the URL that is not redirecting?
| Robyn | ||
| Robyn | ||
| Robyn |
no probs
| Robyn |
sorry I keep pasting with the https but have removed it from my tests
| Ian P. |
Send me an example please?
| Robyn |
https://msi.dev.umn.edu/events/software-carpentry-introduction-latexc- my first event worked but none of the following ones so far - am I being dof or is it not working?
| Robyn |
I checked the first page of news posts and they are all fine so its okay to assume the rest will be fine
| Ian P. |
The internet sees www.sitename/ and sitename/ as two different sites, unless you specify that they are the same site. On our dev environments, we haven't specified this, so anything with www. will break
| Laura H. |
we have this link: https://msi.dev.umn.edu/manage-pi-group
| Ian P. |
| Robyn |
the last one is the link that should redirect to the one i shared first but no cigar - I did it the same as the tedx example
| Robyn | ||
| Robyn |
me again - where should I put the ones that I think are not working post wise? https://msi.dev.umn.edu/news-and-events/msi-news/april-6-outage
| Ian P. |
Do we have a page on the new site for PIs? That's where the redirect should go. We can't handle redirects that point to a different site
| Laura H. |
Left another comment on the archive line for you
| Robyn |
Got it! Thanks so much
| Ian P. | ||
| Robyn |
ahh its a news post
| Ian P. |
Is that an event or news post?
| Ian P. |
I think you can use the <front> tag
| Robyn |
| Laura H. |
| Laura H. |
Yea! that would be great, just add a comment and say: "not working"
| Robyn |
Lau, I am finding one that does not work, how can I let you know? Should I just add it to the column next to checked or what is best for you?
| Robyn |
I checked the Quick start guides Lau and its defos working as expected! xx
| Robyn |
Checking shortly Lauskie x
| Ian P. |
Just to mention again - anything we do today on MSI should be on dev
| Laura H. |
Please check out the first few
| Laura H. |
I created a column for your checks
| Robyn |
https://meet.google.com/acb-dduq-owc?authuser=0 see you in 5 minutes
| Robyn |
great, shall we chat at 11?
| Ian P. |
A little bit of a trick - I can show you when you have a gap
| Robyn |
If there's a special way of doing this please let me know - my plan would be to go to the spreadsheet and check which ones and click on them to make sure they work?
| Robyn |
no probs Ian -
| Ian P. |
| Laura H. |
Will do! I'll let you know if things start lagging
| Ian P. |
Dankie! There are lots - let me know if you need me to help get them done quickly.
| Laura H. |
Ok cool. I can add the ones without wildcard no probs :) will get ont hat in the next 5 min
| Ian P. |
I got the redirects :)
| Ian P. |
- Add all the basic redirects (the ones that don't have a wildcard) using Redirects on msi.dev.umn.edu - Share the redirects spreadsheet with me here quickly? |
| Robyn |
thanks Ian
| Robyn |
at last haha
| Ian P. |
:) all set?
| Robyn |
Jim is happy so going to gooi with a 4pm on our side
| Robyn |
Oh my word, I am too slow
| Robyn |
we have arua from 3-4 and Jim is possibly not available at 4pm - 5h30pm - I know its late but are happy with a 5h30 pm meeting
| Robyn |
never mind - see he has responded :)
| Robyn |
4-5 PM CDT hour - is that the same as Minnesota time? If so, that's 23h00 on our side so going to say hell no
| Robyn |
| Robyn |
I will go with what you say here but this feels weird to me - they need to add the login link themselves? if so, I dont think this is going to fly but not sure if I am confused - will share the agenda with you soon
| Ian P. |
Yes
| Robyn |
I see we do not and we do have a task, I have added a bit more detail for context - thanks peeps
| Robyn |
`dankie!
| Laura H. |
Ok! with you guys now.
| Ian P. |
We don't really need that admin login; if you know, you know :)
| Ian P. |
One button links to a page on the archive site, and the other is a link to login to the MSI site.
| Ian P. |
They're not the same button.
| Robyn |
This request " My thought is maybe we create a landing page on the archive site with instructions for logging in on the archive site to manage their group. Perhaps then we could rename the "Login" button in the top right of the new site to something like "Manage MSI Group" that navigates to the instruction page on the archive site." Noting the other request and email from Jim "I believe that moving the Login button from the top of the home page to the footer, and renaming it "Admin Login" (prob. in smaller font, it does not need to be a large button/link) is probably the best option." "
| Robyn |
Then Jim said move it and now we have this request so I am not sure if its the same button but seems like it might be
| Robyn |
| Robyn |
Lau - the details are on the emails - but here's a copy of the Admin request
| Laura H. |
Would they be separate logins? So, one for Admin and one for PI's? Or, should that be the same login? Sorry struggling to catch on here, haha
| Ian P. |
One or both of those buttons. And if one, which one.
| Ian P. |
I think they must just make that decision
| Robyn |
Sarah's mail was after Jim's but I think they are flying fast and not considering how their requests affect each other
| Robyn |
these feel like conflicting plans to me so wanted to check with you and add to the agenda as needed
| Robyn |
