✨ Timeline and contract update

I had a good call with Gao and one of her colleagues last night.
  • They are working on procurement and contracting, but this might still take a couple of weeks. I said if they are confident the project will go ahead, we can get started. They promised to give me an update next week Wednesday (27 March). That means we're looking at a start date of 2 April
  • In the meantime they will get their notes together about style and design changes they would like to make, using this site as a starting point.
  • Despite the later start date, they want to keep to the launch date of 17 June. They have a big event on that day. I mentioned that we'll assess once we get the go-ahead, but it's likely the timeline will need to shift.
  • They also mentioned they would be ok if there are adjustments to the costs, given the shorter timeline.
  • They will only have final text and images ready by mid May.

Ian Parsons, Head Chef at Matogen Digital Ian thanks for the update - I am feeling really uncomfortable with this client.

I asked for the content to be ready by the time we start on email. Their timing which sets us up for being done by Mid-May

  • Website architecture due before the second half of May.
  • Text inputting and photos are due before the second half of May
  •  Review and internal editing (Laura/Becca/Mairi/Emma as oversight) - first week of June
  •  Launch digi-mag on 17/18 June
My feedback with the proposal on Friday 15 March

"We require the content and any images you wish to use at the start of the project so please get that prepped while we get the contract ready to share with you.
We would need to kick off this work on Monday to be done on time so it will need quick actions. "

The first response on Tuesday - 19 March

"We discussed sharing placeholder copy and images while we wait for the drafts- I'm hoping to get those to you by  lunchtime today.

Again- apologies for this delay."

They are removing all the things we need and still expecting a good outcome. Content was the problem we had with the other SSN people which directly affected the projects timelines.  I don't want to box them all but its likely the behaviour will be the same. Culture is culture.

I will let go of this on the basis  that we are clear with them when they come through. Any content that comes in later than the 15th of May is also going to push the timeline. Our dev work is not going to be ready by mid May and we will push the timeline seeing as next week Wednesday means we are 8 days late on possibly receiving some of what we need.

I know I am being sticky but I have a giant knot in my stomach because of this. I am okay to move forward with very strict t's and c's to ensure we don't get burned

Robyn, Project Manager at Matogen Digital Robyn I'm with you on this. The only reason I'm not quite as uncomfortable is because we are using an existing website as the starting point. Assuming they don't want to make massive changes to the layout or functionality, it's going to be a fairly small job.

But, I think we should prioritise our other clients. When these guys are ready we can assess the timeline and make sure we commit to something we are comfortable with.
